Reports from Abua/Odual Local Government Area say that angry councillors who are encamped in battle against the Council Chairman Kenigeni Dema may have fired petitions to the EFCC alleging massive fraud and corruption against him.

So far, Dema is yet to be invited by the awesome anti-corruption agency that most politicians and public office holders dread, but some insiders confirmed they have heard that the councillors have indeed written a petition intended for the EFCC.

In the petition, from what we have gathered, the councillors are believed to have catalogued some of the charges they brought against the chairman before members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
One of the councillors who spoke to the Telegraph revealed that they were bent on seeking justice and protecting the developmental interests of the Abua/Odual people who gave them mandate
"Dema is doing nothing with the people's money", he blurted, "Let him tell the whole world what he has done with millions of Naira allocated to Abua/Odual since he rode to power."

"A majority of us have nothing to do with is undemocratic administration but we would not let him get away with what he is doing except he turns a new leaf and devotes himself to the service of our people", he added.
It is not just the councillors who are on the war path with Dema. A number of groups have come under a common umbrella to fight the council chairman.

One such group petitioned to the Rivers State House of assembly, relying mostly on the allegations contained in the one fired by the councillors to the same house.
For carrying a story headlined Dema: The Charges against him, we have learnt that the chairman might be planning to sue the Telegraph.

A caller told this publication, "He is planning to sue your paper. That is what he is telling some of his close associates with whom we are in touch."
